چکیده
Abstract A geometric decomposition previously adopted in areas of nonlinear continuum mechanics and soliton theory is applied to a two-dimensional time-independent magnetohydrodynamic system obtain reduction canonical third order equation subject constraint. Novel classes exact solutions the are thereby constructed. Connection made with kinematic conditions which attend certain steady motions fibre-reinforced viscous fluids.

Canonical reduction of two - dimensional gravityfor
We develop the formalism for canonical reduction of (1 + 1){dimensional gravity coupled with a set of point particles by eliminating constraints and imposing coordinate conditions. The formalism itself is quite analogous to the (3 + 1){dimensional case; however in (1 + 1) dimensions an auxiliary scalar eld is shown to have an important role. The reduced Hamiltonian is expressed as a form of spa...
متن کاملOn two-dimensional magnetohydrodynamic turbulence
It is shown that two-dimensional MHD turbulence is in certain respects closer to threedimensional than to two-dimensional hydrodynamic turbulence. A second-order closure indicates that: (i) a t zero viscosity and magnetic diffusivity, a singularity appears a t a finite time; (ii) there is an energy cascade to small scales and an inverse cascade of squared magnetic potential, in agreement with a...

We develop the formalism for canonical reduction of (1 + 1)–dimensional gravity coupled with a set of point particles by eliminating constraints and imposing coordinate conditions. The formalism itself is quite analogous to the (3 + 1)–dimensional case; however in (1 + 1) dimensions an auxiliary scalar field is shown to have an important role. The reduced Hamiltonian is expressed as a form of s...
متن کاملFeedback Stabilization of Two Dimensional Magnetohydrodynamic Equations*
We prove the local exponential stabilizability for the MHD system in space dimension 2, with internally distributed feedback controllers. These controllers take values in a finite dimensional space which is the unstable manifold of the elliptic part of the linearized operator. They are represented through two scalar functions supported in a subdomain. Mathematics Subject Classification 2000: 93...
متن کاملMagnetic reconnection in two-dimensional magnetohydrodynamic turbulence.
Systematic analysis of numerical simulations of two-dimensional magnetohydrodynamic turbulence reveals the presence of a large number of X-type neutral points where magnetic reconnection occurs. We examine the statistical properties of this ensemble of reconnection events that are spontaneously generated by turbulence. The associated reconnection rates are distributed over a wide range of value...
